Jullie & Chelsea: Taste Test Tuesday | Dark Chocolate

If you follow us on Snapchat, you probably know that most of our 'girls day' dates typically revolve around trips to the grocery store (Whole Foods, Sprouts, Trader Joe's...), perusing aisles for our favorite snacks or for new brands to try. It only made sense to share some of the taste testing fun with all of our followers! :) So we're super excited to bring another new feature to the blog: TASTE TEST TUESDAY!

In this week's edition, all about DARK CHOCOLATE *praise hands*, you'll find a little bit of information about and links to each brand we sampled (we both picked two each), as well as our scoring results. We decided to judge three key categories: quality of the ingredient list, texture, and overall flavor, and we awarded points based on a 1-5 scale. Now before you get any ideas about this being a super stiff critique of each one...Nah. We're not about that life...This is about the two of us trying new things and learning about different options that are out there, and maybe it'll help you out next time you're staring down the chocolate aisle trying to figure out what you want. Remember the motto, friends. Stay hungry, stay adventurous. ;)

Jullie: Pitaya Pink Lemonade

A couple of weeks ago, Pitaya Plus posted this fun question on their Instagram: QUICK! You have a fresh cup of pitaya cubes in front of you...what do you make? So I immediately thought of one of my absolute FAVORITE things in the world...pitaya bowls!

Pitaya bowl with almond butter and granola...
Pitaya bowl at the Farm Fresh Juice Company...
Pitaya bowl on a beach in Hawai'i...
Pitaya bowl served IN a papaya...

*heart eyes* Clearly, I'm a huge fan of this fruit. But then I realized...I want to try something different with it! It'd be a perfect ingredient for a bright, summery, and refreshing drink! I finally got around to making that drink and am so excited to share it with you all...Pink Pitaya Lemonade!

Jullie: Introducing Simply Snap Meals!

I’m so excited to reveal this new feature on the blog! I do a ton of cooking(/eating) over on Snapchat. And recently, I realized how great Snapchat is for sharing what I'm currently cooking up in the kitchen (yay recipe testing!), sharing  the occasional grocery or market haul, and even recording a few quick product reviews and spotlights. Chelsea and I are both big online shoppers, so we've even done a couple of "unboxing" vids too! (I love that friends/followers can view a story in chronological order! *side eyes Instagram and Twitter's timeline algorithms*) While photos that end up on the blog or Instagram are usually edited shots of an already finished product, Snapchat has definitely become a fantastic way to share the "behind the scenes" process. It's all live and real-time! (#SimplySnapMeals!)

Jullie: Rise and shine!

Ahhh! SIMPLY has a new look! (And a little bit of a new vibe...but more on that in a sec…) Chelsea and I are just beyond excited to finally roll out the updated website! We spent a lot of time brainstorming and discussing the direction we wanted to take the blog in, so here's what's going on now and what to expect in the future...

Chelsea: Fish Face Poke Bar

I think we all know that I have a restaurant crush. It's on North Shore Poke Co down in Huntington. After the awesomeness that is North Shore, I was excited to get back home and try out some poke spots near me. Which inevitably led me to Fish Face Poke Bar in Sacramento. Believe it or not, there are actually a few poke spots in the Sacramento area, and they've all made it onto a list for me to try in my search for a spot near me to help me get over North Shore.

Jullie & Chelsea: Socal Finale | DCA & The Anaheim Packing House

Happy Friday, everyone! We hope you enjoy the finale of our SoCal trip recap! Today, we’ll be talking about a couple of stops in Disney California Adventure and an awesome Anaheim gem to hit up for even more food options. They’re all great places to take note of and to help plan your next vacation! :)

Jullie & Chelsea: SoCal Day 2 | Disneyland

009.JPG

Our SoCal recap continues! Matching t-shirts. Matching birthday buttons. Yup. Jullie and Chelsea take Disneyland! (Oh, and a little tip? You don’t need to wait in a ginormous line at City Hall to get your buttons. Most shops all over the park have them at the cash register. You just have to ask!)

Traveling together was really awesome. Both of us are veterans when it comes to Disney vacations, so there wasn't any pressure or “we have to do this” situations. We know what we like to do, ride, and see, and those are the things that we put at the top of our list when planning our trip.

Jullie & Chelsea: SoCal Day 1 | From Pasadena to Huntington Beach

Happy hump day, everyone! Jullie here! Chelsea and I are excited to finally share all of the details from our recent SoCal trip together. For those of you who don’t know…our birthdays are only a few days apart, so we planned a little weekend trip back in March, as a joint celebration. Over the next couple of days, we'll be talking about Disneyland (one of my absolute favorite destinations to talk about on the blog!) and each of the fun stops we made along the way! First up, Pasadena and Huntington Beach...

Jullie: Wishlist Wednesday, Travel Edition

If you were to go through my text conversations with Chelsea, I'm willing to bet that a majority of them are links to products that we found and are currently oohing-and-aahing over. We're both huge online shoppers. We're always finding great deals and sharing cute stuff with each other. It didn't really click for me, to turn that habit into a weekly blog post, until we went on a weekend vacay together! I finally decided that Wishlist Wednesdays need to happen! For our very first post, we're each sharing our top 5 items inspired by travel.

On the heels of a sunny SoCal trip, and with spring break fever still going strong, I'm dreaming of a tropical vacation right about now! I've decided to give my wishlist a bit of a beachy theme! :D

Chelsea: Wishlist Wednesday, Travel Edition

Hey, guys! Chelsea here! As you may or may not know, Jullie and I just got back from a little weekend trip and we ran into a few things that inspired a bit of a travel-based wish list on our trip. Whether they're things I don't already have, or things that I could use an update on, this is my first Wishlist Wednesday post: Travel Edition.
